FAP - THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN AFRICA
The South African Fine Art Print Fair brings together fine art prints from all over South Africa to be viewed under one roof. Few galleries are dedicated solely to print, and printmaking studios are generally exiguous. The Fair gives those who create fine art prints the opportunity to showcase their work, and in turn generates a sales platform for printmakers, and gives print lovers and art collectors an opportunity to view and buy their works.
FAP is a non-profit-making organization and without the support of the South African print community and GIBS – The Gordon Institute of Business Science (University of Pretoria), it would not be possible.
FAP'S HISTORY
After building on six years of an annual exhibition (a collaboration between the Sharon Sampson Studio and Artist Proof Studio), the exhibitions became too big to be held at the Sampson Studio. It was moved to the GIBS campus in 2015 and was named the South African Fine Art Print Fair (FAP), founded by Sharon and Jeremy Sampson.
FAP was the first contemporary collective exhibition of this nature dedicated to original fine art prints. FAP15 showcased the work of four printmaking studios and one gallery: Artist Proof Studio, The Artist’s Press, Blue Door Studio, Sharon Sampson Studio and the South African Print Gallery.
FAP ONLINE
The new, updated FAP ONLINE was launched in May 2021.
