Jan Tshikhuthula and Lebohang Sithole

This exhibition explores the harmony between contrasts.

Jan’s powerful black and white linocuts boast precise mark-making within his large-scale atmospheric landscapes.
His work addresses his homeland and the environments that are undergoing change and transformation.
“This body of work depicts the literal rural scenes and landscapes of Venda (my homeland), where my parents were born and where I spent a lot of time in my youth.”

The figures in Lebohang’s delicate monoprints float, swirl and encapsulate the viewer as they emerge from fresh hues and undulating lines. In this body of work Lebohang depicts folk from everyday life, including people from some of South Africa’s colourful tribes – portraying their rich culture.
“My artwork is inspired by the journey travelled by my grandfather, who was a singer and organist for the Amajembe Jazz Band. It is about the fact that one can inherit a gene from a family member and be recognized as that person.”

Our artists blend in perfect harmony when it comes to
their considerable skill, passion, commitment and love of printmaking. Enjoy!
