An exhibition of two artists, Phillip Mabote and Bevan de Wet, who explore and engage with line in entirely contrasting processes.
Phillip Mabote’s themes – which often include birds, are transcribed into linocut in a hands-on mark-making technique which has an energy that expresses his imagery in a bold, dynamic manner.
Bevan de Wet has a more exploratory approach to line. His technical bravura is evident in all his works from linocuts, etchings, monoprints, monotypes and screenprints. He works primarily with paper, engaging its materiality and pushing the boundaries of the surface.
